A Family-Owned Farm
The year is 1902 and Henderson Miller and his wife Martha, head West from North Carolina to answer the call to start a church in the Wenatchee Valley. The Millers settled on Peshastin Creek with their 3 children. The property was full of timber to which had to be logged by using a team of horses, and shortly after the land was cleared the fruit trees were planted.
Henderson Miller started the Sunnyslope Church of the Brethren, which is still active today. His son, Charles Miller, was instrumental in the orchard development. Since the area population was small, Charles was ready for a wife and was matched by friends and family through the mail, with Mary ‘Lou’ Reeves. She moved west shortly and were married.
Lou and Charlie moved onto the orchard and started a family. This generation consisted of 2 daughters and 3 sons. Charles ‘Ray’ Miller was born in 1923, he later married Marjorie Bromfield and they had 4 children. Charles Richard Miller is the 4th generation to farm the land. Rich and Teri married in 1983 and their daughter Rachel is the 5th generation to work the farm.
